RedRover has teamed up with Belleville Humane Society to create a program to help domestic abuse survivors keep their pets. RedRover`s and Belleville Humane Society`s research shows that 48 percent of domestic violence survivors are hesitant to leave an abusive relationship, because they don`t want to abandon their pets.

BAHS is seeking foster homes to care for these animals while their original survivors can return. BAHS will provide vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries and heartworm treatments while in foster care.

Fostering
Foster carer provide temporary homes to animals in need, enabling them to live out their lives free of being euthanized. They also teach valuable socialization techniques that will make the animal they care for a more adoptable pet.
The Belleville Humane Society Program relies on foster families to keep Betty White and many other abused, abandoned, or injured animals safe as well as support shelter animals whose owners no longer care for them. Anyone interested in fostering a dog can fill out an application, or they can visit Gateway Pet Guardians on Thursdays between 9am-5pm to pick up a foster dog. Become part of BAHS`s dedicated team!
Fostering may take commitment, but it is a rewarding way to help a rescue animal find a permanent home. Each foster animal has different requirements and preferences; some need intensive attention such as spaying before adoption while others can stay longer while you work on training or behavior modification while waiting for an adopter.
Adoptions
The Belleville Humane Society Program aims to improve animal life in our community by adopting, educating and engaging the public through humane activities and education. These include emergency sheltering, spay/neuter and trap/neuter/return programs.

Before placing our adoptable cats and dogs in their forever homes, we carefully screen them according to temperaments, age, breeds, health concerns and socialization abilities.

Donations
The Belleville Humane Society has an expansive list of needs, from food and supplies to veterinary care and training services. Utilizing their Grey Muzzle grant money, they`ve taken on an exciting new challenge by starting an outreach program specifically targeting senior dogs.
They`ve even won a Best in Show award for their community-based pet supply pantry – only four shelters nationwide were honored with such an honor, making this distinction well deserved.
